A practical, solid, compact collection that highlights individual yarns and celebrates colour in its most raw, full, earthly nature. Spring/Summer 2019 dismisses all things lavish and promotes the intrinsic value of each product
Understanding the most authentic quality of each yarn. Enhancing its value in its entirety. Focusing on its original form, thus highlighting its intrinsic strength. The Spring/Summer 2019 collection by Tollegno 1900 is more than just a declaration of love for the “physical” and “material” nature of yarns broken down into the purest variants (100% Cashmere, 100% Ultrafine and Extrafine Merino Wool) and blends (silk, viscose, linen, cotton), but also an accolade for simplification.
Colours and workmanship live through a process of subtraction, with the clear objective of highlighting the essence of materials. #backtobasics thus becomes the expression of man’s unveiled desire to eliminate superstructures and excesses to rediscover the “truth”, experience first-hand, live with authentic emotions. Everything is essential, primitive, raw. Starting from the colours, which by combining the trans-seasonality and three-dimensionality of shot fabrics and blends, donate life and intentional irregularity, even to the most noble products. It is from this practicality that a powerful, albeit compact collection, takes shape.
Classic&Luxury: one collection
100% woollen cashmere by Lora e Festa (“Newcashmere”), but also 100% combed cashmere treated using proven techniques of the Italian manufacturing tradition (“Maharaja”) in either the “pure” version or combined with silk (“Jasmine”); pure Extrafine Merino Wool (“Harmony” and “Harmony total easy care”), combined with viscose (“Vicky”), silk (“Sultano” and “Délice”) or silk&cashmere (“Feeling”); 100% Ultrafine Merino Wool (“New Royal”, “New Royal Top wash” and “Charme”) for stylish, precious knitwear: the spearheads of the Luxury collection are married with the excellence of the Classic line to create a “one collection” that celebrates the best yarns of the Tollegno 1900 tradition.
The result is a proposal that surpasses seasonality, promoting transversality as its main strength. This can be seen in the “Woolcot”, where the elasticity and softness of the Extrafine Merino Wool (53%) marries the freshness of cotton (47%), thus creating a product able to adapt to rapid variations in climate without compromising on comfort, and the brand new “Cottonwool” (75% cotton and 25% Extrafine Merino Wool), whose rugged look is contrasted by its soft touch, where the consistency of the yarn is mitigated by its pleasant feel. The wavy effect created by the slubs, highlighted by the different nuances of a specific colour chart featuring 20 alternating proposals, including tone-on-tone and a play of colour contrasts, only further enhances its visual appeal. Succumbing to the charm of linen and its innate ability to adapt to different temperatures and climates, is “Flaxwool” (65% linen and 35% Extrafine Merino Wool), whose medium-lightweight wearability, soft or rough texture depending on the type of workmanship and dedicated colour chart (36), completes the Tollegno 1900 range for 2019.
Performance: technical, practical, active
White&Blue and Yellow&Turquoise are the colour schemes used to develop the #24hoursworkandleisure Performance collection in the s/s 2019 version. Versatile, comfortable, perfect for both activewear and underwear thanks to the characteristics of the merino wool itself (high thermal insulation, maximum elasticity, high absorption capacity, antibacterial and hypo-allergenic actions), the best performing yarns of this Biella-based company combine naturalness with technological innovation, without ever compromising on comfort, resilience and practicality. A special mention therefore for “Sixtywool”, “Easily”, “Cooper” and “Abarth”, but also “Wooltech Total Easy Care” and “Harmony Idro”. Made in 100% Extrafine Merino Wool, this yarn developed by the Tollegno 1900 research lab uses a special Teflon fabric protector film to create an invisible barrier on each of the fibres, thus protecting all garments against water and grease stains. Its strength? The “Hydro” treatment, which without altering the colours, aesthetics and tactile sensation of garments, can be used on any type of yarn to maximise its performance. Finally, completing the Performance family are yarns considered evergreens for those in search of all-day solutions guaranteeing top-of-the-range performance such as “Montreal”, “Pagoda”, “Phantom” and “Corvette”.
Jersey: an indispensable “nonpareil”
Finally, completing the Tollegno 1900 mosaic for the summer season is a “nonpareil” collection designed for the “jersey-addicted” (already presented at Filo), also ideal for the hanging accessories of runway and on-the-road fashion trends, where colour takes the lion’s share.
Colour: praise for the rough
36 colours of “middle” intensity yet with a pasty consistency, primitive in their perception and vigorous in their naturalness: even the traditionally fashionable tones of the Trends chart bow to the laws of #backtobasics, opting for the asperity and compactness of full nuances over regularity and the perfection-effect. Space is made for earthy colours, for ochres, warm but never extreme yellows and oranges, azures and blues that move away from pastel, getting closer to the more realistic colours of the sea, greens that forego their shine in exchange for serenity. Nothing lavish, sobriety first is the chosen approach, creating a fil rouge with the proposals of the “Colors” chart, a theatre stage for seasonless tones such as sand, cream, beige, butter.
