American Sheila Hicks lives and works in Paris, and her conceptual work includes unconventional tapestries, large-scale sculptures and woven and framed miniatures. The use of traditional fibres such as cotton, wool and silk goes hand in hand with the use of unexpected materials such as steel fibres. \u201cFabric has long been relegated to a secondary role in our society, which sees it as a decorative material.
