There are 35 companies in the yarn sector belonging to the Consorzio Promozione Filati – CPF that have decided to take part in the fifteenth edition of the Contest promoted by Feel The Yarn® which, for 2024, is presented in the “Feel The Contest 2024 – Master Edition” version . According to this year’s format, the students of the Masters in knitwear and the students of advanced knitwear courses at Bachelor level and Master class in Fashion and Design, specialized in knitwear, will express their creativity on the theme “Contradictions”.
On January 10, 2024, the Feel The Yarns® commission proceeded with the selection of over 80 candidates from different countries (Italy, Japan, Germany, England, United States, Denmark, France, Poland, Hungary, Israel, China, Norway, Poland ) who presented their creations, defining the shortlist of 35 and combining them with as many Italian spinning mills.
In the name of transparency and with the aim of providing maximum visibility to the project and its participants, all pairings, moodboards, faces and stories of the selected participants will also be published on social channels and on the Feel The Yarn® website .

“With the pairings, a further important step was taken in the Contest itinerary: the projects we received – comments Ornella Bignami, sponsor of the Contest for 15 years – were all of value, confirming a renewed expressive and creative flair of these boys, who also demonstrated valid skills in terms of workmanship and technique. Now it is up to these young knitwear talents to work together with some of the main players in the Italian yarn sector to create creations capable of winning over the International Jury”. International Jury which, in the week between 15 and 31 May, will proceed to choose the 10 finalists whose outfits, together with those of all the other participants, will be exhibited at Pitti Filati #95 (26/28 June, Fortezza Da Basso, Florence).
Only these ten will be able to compete for the final prize. The “Absolute” winner will be decided during the second day of Pitti in June, while all participants will compete for the “Social” prize. “It is worth remembering that – say the organization of the Contest – the “social vote” will take place exclusively online on the page dedicated to the Competition on the feeltheyarn.it website, while the “final vote”, reserved for the 10 finalists, will be expressed both by visitors of the fair, and by the international jury”.
From Contests to Trade Shows
In addition to the competition, Feel The Yarn® has confirmed, also for 2024, the calendar of events to show the collections of Italian yarns for the SS 2025 in some of the international capitals with the greatest appeal for buyers in the sector. The Trade Shows games were opened by the “SS25 Italian yarn pre-collections in Copenhagen” event on 17 January, followed by “SS25 Rendez-Vous à Paris: présentation des nouvelles collections de fils italiens”, “SS25 Italian yarn collections in New York”, “SS25 Italian yarn collections in London”. All will be held in February, while “SS25 Italian yarn collections in Istanbul” will take place in March together with the Shenzhen stage. In April, the tour will close with the trade show in Tokyo.
“The format of our yarn tours is now consolidated and the positive feedback from the spinning mills that participate is a confirmation of their value both for meeting loyal customers and for intercepting new interlocutors sensitive to Italian style”, I conclude from Feel The Yarn®.
