Tollegno 1900 wool has supported the “Viva Vittoria” initiative which, on November 24, landed in Novara where thousands of knitted blankets will cover Piazza Martiri della Libertà to say “no” to violence against women. The blankets, created with 50×50 cm squares made by volunteers and anyone who wanted to participate in the initiative aimed at putting the lens on a social plague that shows no signs of being resolved, were the subject of a fundraiser. The proceeds of this “shared work” were donated to the AIED Associations Novara section and anti-violence help desks, LIBERAZIONE E SPERANZA social cooperative society and CENTRO ANTIVIOLENZA Area Nord Novarese to contribute to the creation of modular projects of immediate aid aimed at helping women victims of violence to achieve economic and housing independence and support for childcare. “We are proud to have taken part with the donation of our yarns in this initiative that, born from the collaboration of a group of women from Novara with the voluntary association Viva Vittoria ODV of Brescia, creator and promoter of the project, since 2015 has landed in almost 35 squares in Italy, including Biella, and abroad. A tangible sign of the need to take concrete action to support women victims and to say “no” to violence”, they say from Tollegno 1900. The event in Novara had an additional value: the Spazio Viva Vittoria was a laboratory open to all those who wanted to contribute, according to their availability and expertise, to the realization of the initiative. “It is precisely in this space – they say from the organization – that the volunteers collected and sewed the squares, four at a time with a red thread, so as to create the thousands of blankets needed to cover Piazza Martiri della Libertà. Here, anyone has also found support to create their own knitted square and the necessary yarns are the result of donations from companies, including Tollegno 1900, and private individuals”.
