It is written “yarn bombing” but it is read as textile bombing, the street art movement recently born in some US cities. The aim of the artists is to cover portions of the landscape and elements of urban furniture with wool and cotton, embellishing the most barren public areas. The ones that are personalized with wool creations are lampposts, street signs, statues, benches and tree trunks, but also posts and railings. Among the most renowned artists of the “Yarn Bombing” movement is Magda Sayeg, already founder of the collective Knitta Please that deals with wrapping cities with wool and promoting similar artistic projects.
