Discovering artists who made the noble yarn one of the interpreters of their creativity

The work “Lana” dates back to 1908 and, as a voice of Wassily Kandinsky’s expressionism, is dedicated to the town of the same name near Merano where the artist arrived after a period of wandering around Europe and becoming aware of the spiritual importance of colors in his painting. A stay in Lana most likely encouraged by the friendship with the engineer Alexander Strakosch who, having fallen in love with the place, had expressed the intention of creating an artists’ commune thanks to the help of his wife Maria Giesler, a former student of the Russian master.
