Davide DelPrato, Quality Manager at Tollegno 1900, is clear that to carve out a leading role in the market, in addition to the quality of the yarn produced, three factors are crucial: service offered, the ability to customize the color range based on customer requests, and certifications that confirm the company’s high production standards and attention to the environment. “My job, and that of my four colleagues,” he explains, “is to ensure product compliance throughout all stages of production, so as to bring a high-performance yarn to the increasingly demanding and discerning market. This performance allows for versatility and versatility of use: over the years, the yarn has expanded beyond knitwear and found its way into many other contexts, such as home interiors. This makes it essential to guarantee impeccable standards.”
How does Tollegno 1900 specifically ensure these standards?
By ensuring extensive controls throughout the entire supply chain through checks that combine subjective measurements with objective assessments, performed using dedicated tools. I am referring specifically to color, which represents an element of value and a distinctive feature of Tollegno 1900. Our company is capable of creating customized solutions based on our customers’ requests. This very attitude, combined with our commitment to upholding the dictates of international norms and standards without compromising production, I believe represents one of our distinguishing features.
How important are investments in research in achieving this excellence?
Very much. As is the ability to consistently apply all available techniques to ensure the highest product quality.
How is this encoded in color?
To ensure that the color meets our high standards, we focus on analyzing two factors: the color point, which we verify through visual inspection and instrumental testing using a spectrophotometer, and its color fastness. Our in-house laboratory monitors this through targeted tests to ensure compliance with international regulations.
Considering that color capabilities are a key factor in establishing Tollegno 1900’s expertise on the market, if you had to choose a color scheme that represents the company, which would it be?
I would opt for the Italian flag: white, red, and green. A deliberate and necessary choice, because Tollegno 1900, in addition to its history, maintains a strongly Italian identity that is evident in its style, which fully interprets our country, and in its know-how. This ability allows our brand to stand out.
Beyond know-how, innovation, attention to sustainability, and investment in research, what further distinguishes Tollegno 1900?
The strong connection to the local area is certainly a very strong element of its identity. As is the company’s ability to guarantee its high production standards for the various types of wool and their respective origins. Last but not least, the ability to boast the main certifications in the textile industry is essential to remaining a reliable partner for the brands that choose us.
For 12 years, you too have been “professionally” choosing Tollegno 1900. What are you passionate about about your work?
Everything I do! Passion is essential, as is an awareness of one’s responsibility to the company and one’s employees. I’m fortunate to hold a position considered central to the company, and this is highly motivating. My staff and I not only liaise constantly with management and all our colleagues in production, programming, sales, and style, but we also take care of gathering all issues and requests from outside, channeling them to other departments as well. This comprehensive approach makes us a sort of “middle ground” between the market and the internal world. Without the right motivation and love for what I do, I wouldn’t be able to keep everything in order and, at the same time, maintain a high level of engagement among my team.
