The Ancient Wool Road winds through the hills cultivated with vines, olive trees and cherry trees of the eastern ridge of the Lessini Mountains. The path has been used since ancient times to transport raw wool to the factories in the nearby valleys – the Chiampo Valley above all – from where it then returned in the form of skeins to be knitted to make socks, sweaters and hats. This evocative itinerary, which alternates stretches paved in cement with white paths and is also equipped with signs to give the correct directions, has over the years become a destination for cycling, hiking and equestrian tourism enthusiasts. The route, with a total length of about 48 kilometers, passes through the municipalities of Soave, Cazzano, Illasi, Tregnago, Badia Calavena and Selva di Progno. The departure is set from Soave (Porta Aquila) and then continues along the road that leads to the Bassanella sanctuary and the Soave castle and then climbs up to the localities of Carcera, Cazzano and San Felice (in the municipality of Illasi).
