…fulling is the finishing operation that causes the felting of woollen fabrics and cloths to make them thicker, more compact and resistant, while at the same time giving them softness to the touch. After the fulling, for which the same ingredients used for felting are used (soaps, non-corrosive acids, emulsions composed of some varieties of oils), the fabrics are generally also subjected to a light raising, which, producing an uneven nap, increases their insulating property.
