Among the best known examples of industrial archeology in Italy, the former Zignone wool mill, known as the “Wheel Factory” is a point of reference for the history of the sector having preserved the nineteenth-century Manchester-type multi-storey system and the “teledynamic” system of energy transmission. Also making it an excellence is the “Textile Industry Documentation Center” divided into a rich specialized library made up of over 1500 volumes and an archive made up of 58 fonds of industrial origin. In the more “generalist” library, around 5000 volumes are kept. By visiting the Museum you can also admire various restored and functioning machinery and tools connected with textile manufacturing. The functioning of the wool mill is instead told through an educational exhibition in the conference room.
