In the name of sustainability, the second edition of “Feel The Contest” closed a competition that was promoted and organized by Feel The Yarn® (a brand supporting most of the initiatives of the Consorzio Promozione Filati – CPF) and Pitti Immagine, saw the participation of 33 new designers from Europe, the United States, South America, and Asia. Marie Nardi, who ascended the podium thanks to the creation of two outfits with the theme “Feel the Green” was chosen by a jury of 10 experts such as David Shah – Textile View, Elisabetta Scarpini – FEEL THE Yarn, Francesca Rulli – Process Factory, Francesca Tacconi – Pitti Immagine, Gigliola Maule – Camera Showroom Milano, Laurie Pressman – Pantone®, Matteo Minà – MF Fashion, Ornella Bignami – Elementi Moda, Renato Baldassari – Maurizio Baldassari ®, Roberto Collina – Roberto Collina ®,
The motivation that tipped the scale in favour of the talent of Nardi combined with Monticolor spinning is clear, as explained by Ornella Bignami, creative director of “Elementi di moda” and coordinator of the Contest: “The winner found the right ingredients and used the most suitable technologies to express her identity, responding to the theme of this edition with creative effectiveness . Her proposals interpret the sense of contemporary, genderless and seasonless fashion. Also, by transferring knits to areas not usually associated with this product, Marie has managed to fully represent the new trends that connect sportswear and urban wear”.
Strengthened by this important recognition, the overall winner, who won over 4 other finalists chosen following the votes cast on the feeltheyarn.it website – Elena De Vita (paired with Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia), Pietro Lo Presti (paired with Filati Biagioli Modesto), Lis Bazan (paired with Filpucci), Marion Lacroix-Desmazes (paired with Linificio and Canapificio Nazionale) and Marie Nardi (paired with Monticolor) – will now be able to shape her own capsule collection entirely Made in Italy for SS23. It will be composed of a series of outfits made thanks not only to the yarns provided by the members of the Consorzio Promozione Filati – CPF, but also to the collaboration of some Italian knitwear companies. The technical and stylistic advice offered by the Milan Showroom Room will be a credible support to maximize its promotion and visibility. Visibility that “Feel the Contest” reserved during the Florentine exhibition both to the leaders of the 5 finalists who, after being published in the issue of the Magazine “Feel The Yarn” #08 AW 23.24 “Riding the change”, were also presented at the stand of Feel The Yarn® (Cavedio – Central Pavilion) and to those of the other 5 stylists who positioned themselves behind them by number of votes: Giovanni Shun Colafato (paired with Linsieme Filati), Brittney Austin (paired with Filmar), Katie Craymer (paired with Manifattura Sesia), Maia Harima (paired with Filidea)and Angela Moran Di Nardo (paired with Pecci Filati).
In Fortezza da Basso, to animate the exhibition space of the brand supporting most of the activities of the Consorzio Promozione Filati – CPF there were included 20 total looks where the sustainable mood have made their mark,
Sustainability, however, was not the only creative inspiration for the designers who took part in the “Contest”, but also the focus of the digital survey “How sustainable are you?” held during Pitti Immagine Filati. By scanning a visible and downloadable QR Code at the Feel The Yarn® booth, participants at the Fair were able to understand their eco-sensitivity rating and have their knowledge of environmental protection at their fingertips. Their willingness to take part in this social awareness initiative, Feel The Yarn® reward each of them with a special green by vocation gift: balls of sustainable yarn offered in paper bags with “Feel the Green” logo.
This edition of the “Contest” represents a milestone for Feel The Yarn® and an important driver for new initiatives “Due to its increasingly international dimension, the participation of designers from all over the world, the stature of the jury that selected the overall winner and the theme that defined it” . commented Alberto Enoch, President of the Consortium for the promotion of Yarns – CPF: “Being able to generate a virtuous circle between associated companies, knitwear manufacturers and new talents has always been our commitment and a priority: the results we have collected make us understand that the path taken is the right one “.
“We are very happy to contribute to every edition of Feel The Yarn® – says Lapo Cianchi, Director of Communication & Special Events at Pitti Immagine – and to host the knitwear designers of the future at Pitti Filati. Initiatives like these represent an opportunity for everyone: for students to get to know each other, for companies to work with the freshest creativity and for the salon audience to have new stimuli and ideas. Finally, it is interesting to note how the focus of this edition was immediately received and appreciated by the participants: a further confirmation of how young people are the first to believe in responsible, beautiful and creative fashion.”
