Organized by Città Studi Biella, the Award, divided into two sectors, will be conferred by a jury of leading figures from the world of literature, art and journalism. The finalists will be presented in June and the award ceremony scheduled for October 21

Premio Biella Letteratura e Industria has a long history behind it which, organized by Città Studi, will celebrate its twenty-second edition in 2023. Divided alternately into the two sectors “Fiction” (biennial) and “Nonfiction” (biennial), the Award is intended for a work published by an Italian or foreign author in Italian translation that describes or analyzes moments and models of transformation of Italian society with general reference to the socio-economic reality and specific to the industrial culture.

The finalists and winner will be evaluated by a jury composed of Pier Francesco Gasparetto (writer and essayist – President of the jury), Claudio Bermond (university professor), Paola Borgna (university professor), Ida Bozzi (author, cultural reporter for Corriere della Sera), Paolo Bricco (journalist and essayist), Loredana Lipperini (writer, journalist, radio presenter), Sergio Pent (writer), Alberto Sinigaglia (journalist and university professor), Tiziano Toracca (university professor).

The names of the five selected finalists will be officially announced in the month of June while the award ceremony of the winner will be on 21 October 2023 in Città Studi. A prize of Euro 5,000 will be awarded to the author of the winning work, while a prize of Euro 1,000 will be awarded to the four finalists. Among the foreign works in Italian translation participating in the competition, the “Foreign Work Award” will be awarded by the jury, consisting of a artwork. Among the five finalist authors, the winner of the “Readers’ Jury Prize”, consisting of a work of art, will also be selected. Among the awards that will also be given the “Lions Biella Bugella Civitas Award” to the author of the best review on one of the five finalist volumes, consisting of three vouchers of 100 euros each, which can be spent in bookstores.

But that’s not all: the CAI section of Biella, on the occasion of its 150th anniversary of its foundation, announces an award dedicated to the work which, among those nominated for the Premio Biella Letteratura e Industria 2023, best represents the mountain as an area of entrepreneurial development , social and productive of the territory. The winner’s election ceremony will be held on 25 November 2023 in Città Studi, Biella.
